Economics of Globalization and Chinese Economy

(EGCE)

The Economics of Globalization and Chinese Economy program offers a comprehensive understanding of global economic trends through the lens of China's economic development and integration into the world economy. It combines core theories of international trade, finance, and development with in-depth methodology training to explore China’s economic reforms, industrial transformation, and evolving role in global markets. By bridging global frameworks and the Chinese context, the program equips students with the analytical tools and empirical insights necessary to examine complex economic issues, engage with policy debates, and pursue careers in business, international organizations, government, and academia.

The program is structured around three key academic tracks—Economics, Finance, and Statistics—each tailored to distinct career and research objectives. While all students gain foundational expertise in globalization and China’s economy, the curriculum diverges to emphasize specialized skills:

Economics: Focuses on policy analysis, trade dynamics, and macroeconomic strategies, with empirical training for roles in public institutions or think tanks.

Finance: Prepares students for global capital markets, risk management, and cross-border investment, leveraging China’s financial liberalization as a case study.

Statistics: Develops advanced quantitative tools for data-driven research in economic trends, industrial forecasting, or development evaluation.

The training and coursework vary by track. For details, please refer to the Program Structure [https://imwise.xmu.edu.cn/Programs/EGCE.htm].
