What is EGEI?
The Economics of Globalization and European Integration (EGEI) is a prestigious joint master’s program established in 1994, led by the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and supported by a consortium of leading European universities. In 2011, Xiamen University officially joined the alliance, expanding its global reach.
Current Consortium Members:
· University of Bari (Italy)
· Ghent University (Belgium)
· Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS, Belgium)
· University of Cantabria (Spain)
· University of Lille (France)
· University of Tartu (Estonia)

· Xiamen University (China)
The program recruits outstanding young scholars worldwide for a master’s degree in economics, fostering cross-cultural academic collaboration.
Exchange Opportunities for WISE&SOE International Graduate Students
International students enrolled in WISE and SOE are eligible to participate in the EGEI exchange. Depending on the program’s rotation schedule, students can select 1–2 partner universities for a study period of 1–2 semesters.
Key Benefits of Participation:
1. Academic Enrichment: Study at renowned European institutions alongside peers from diverse backgrounds.
2. Institutional Visits: Gain exclusive access to organizations such as the EU Office and the European Parliament, deepening your understanding of global economic governance.
3. Cultural Immersion: Experience life in different European countries while building an international professional network.
4. Potential EGEI Degree Award: Upon successful completion of EGEI degree requirements, students may be eligible to receive an EGEI consortium degree. Note: This may extend the graduation timeline at Xiamen University due to credit transfer and program coordination.
Why Choose EGEI?
1. Global-Local Integration: Beyond the Economics of Globalization and Chinese Economy (EGCE) curriculum at WISE-SOE, further exploration of European economic integration, policies, and institutions is available.
